It is international scrapbooking day 2022 and I wanted to do something extra for you all. I recently joined a FB group for independent designers and they set up a blog train for NSD2022. We called it the iNSD2022. Sadly I didn’t had the time to collaborate for the current blog train, but I didn’t want it to pass without promoting my new designerfriends! And next blogtrain I will be also participating!
Are you wondering what pocket pages are? Well I try to explain it (briefly).
In 2008 project life from Becky Higgins was born. The use of plastic sheet protectors divided in different pockets took scrapbooking to a whole new level: No need for glue anymore, just inserting the photos and pocket cards in the desired pocket.
Soon the style was adopted by the digital scrapbookers and designers of digital products included pocket cards and templates in their kits. A pocketpage template typically is an arrangement of blocks in a few different standard sizes on a page. Each block then can be filled with photos or patterned paper. Contrary to the physical pocket pages, in digital scrapbooking with pocket pages you are not limited to the blocks. You can put embellishments anywhere on the page. There is no right or wrong way to use the templates
Digital Pocket Pages with a twist
Almost all the time the shapes in the digital templates are rectangular. Nothing wrong with that, but if you know me a little, you know I love curves. I started searching templates with curves and I didn’t find them. So I decided to made them myself,. And so my new type of templates were born: pocket pages with a twist 🙂
The first templates will be a mix and match serie: I made different variations with a few standard shapes. If you know well how to deal with rotating and duplicating layers you can stick to a few templates with the standard shapes. If you are not you have also the option to buy a set where I did the work for you.
I hope you like these new style of pocket pages. Leave a comment if so, so I know it is worth to make more of these templates.
My store has been live for a month and the website is taking shape. I spend almost every day working behind the scenes on my website. That is not always easy to combine all this with a busy full-time job.
The changes in the store:
-After purchase you get the download link immediately, you no longer have to download another PDF, handy, isn’t it? -You can now also download all files at once in a handy zip folder. -I also started adding the Lea france collection to the shop. Since this collection is based on the company’s plastic templates, I’ve added tags of the template used. This also makes it easier to find templates inspired by the same template.
Additions on the website: -A gallery with even more examples was added. The title mentions the template and where known, the used kit has also been added. -My old (Dutch) site contains a wealth of examples and information, which I will integrate further on my new website. The messages have already been transferred and in the future I will translate the most relevant messages into English (excuse me if it’s not quite correct English, I’ll do my best).
You see I been busy. If you have remarks on how to make the site better (clearer and/or easier) don’t hesitate to leave a comment. If it is possible, I will make the changes. For now I wish you a nice week and see you soon!
If you follow my blog, you now I am a vivid user of templates/stencils for scrapbooking, both physical and digital. One of the company I really like (and has a more than excellent customersservice!) is Léa France. Léa France sells trully amazing physical scrapbooking stencils. The company digitized also a lot of the pages made with their templates. This way digital scrappers can also enjoy the beautiful and special designs. So the day the company announced they wanted to withdraw the templates from their website I was heartbroken. But wait before you feel sorry for my heartache! The solution for my broken heart came in the form of an angel. And that angel called Carine. Carine, who is the founder and owner of Léa France, believed I was the perfect person to continue to sell the Lea France digital collection.
I am therefore very honored that I can now offer the digital scrapbooking templates of Lea France as an official partner.
You will find them in the category LeaFrance Originals
So if you are in search of a specific designs and you don’t find it (yet), just give me a call. Following Carine, I also want to give you the best possible service.
This is a really huge collection, so I know what to do in the coming weeks………But it will be a labor of love 🙂
About the digital scrapbooking templates ‘ScrapildeDesigns’:
The templates are unique and designed from scratch by me (Hilde from Scrapilde). It takes time to design and perfect them.
It all starts with the inspiration. My inspiration comes literally from everywhere. Very often I get an idea when I see certain patterns in architectural buildings, furniture or nature. And it doesn’t stop with that one idea, usually my brain is filled with different designs all screaming to be worked out. For sure you can say it’s really busy in my head.
Then comes the challenge of working out all these ideas into a good template. I start playing with lines and when I’m happy I transform them on the computer into a workable template. When I’m finally happy, there is a necessary quality check: The spacing must be accurate everywhere. Only then I can convert the template in a first draft. With this draft I make a page. At this stage I can see where I want the final lines and chalk elementsts. After I added them I can convert the template to its final formats. Now my baby is ready to be released into the world.
My templates are designed with the European scrapbooking style in mind, also know as the LéaFrance style (worldwide) or the azza style (in Belgium and neighboring countries). I have about 15 years of experience with this scrapbooking style, it has no more secrets for me.
In the european style of scrapbooking the focus lays on the photo rather than on the embellishment. It uses an ‘interlock’ technique that provides a uniform space between photos and paper elements. Another characteristic of this style is the presence of all kinds of curved shapes that merge seamlessly into one bigger lay-out. Furthermore, hand-drawn lines and frames in combination with a layer of chalk or ink finishes the page.
How does this all translate to my templates?
While the more traditional templates stick to rectangles, circles and simple basic shapes, my templates often give you a whole new range of new shapes for your photos. What’s more, I use the interlocking technique for all my shapes! During the design process I pay special attention to the spacing between the different elements. The accuracy is essential and contributes to the look of the page, so I spent a lot of time and attention on this detail. Also I regularly add digital lines and frames to my templates or provide some elements with a layer of chalk/ink. This add real value to your finished pages.
You will not find all these features in other digital templates on the internet.
So I can say that my templates are real unique gems!
Decisions, decisions, decisions…..it has given me sleepless nights.
What is going on?
Well, I’m looking for my own style to present my digital templates. In my quest to find the most suitable color combination for my site and my templates, finding THE color combination that appeals to everyone, I soon realized that this is an impossible task.
I tried out some color palettes and found that my taste changed overtime and also changed depending on my mood. One day I went wild with the strong blue/purple colors. The next day the yellow/brown look of my templates makes me feel happy and I wondered what I ever saw in the previous color palette. Then again, some times later I stick to soft pastel colors, only to opt for completely different colors a few weeks later……. Perhaps the shades of gray are a thing? I think it’s a little more sophisticated. But maybe also a bit boring…… Sigh, I’m hopeless………..
You know what? I’ll stop worrying about this. Doesn’t everyone have a preference for certain shapes and colours? We are billions of people and we all have our own preference when it comes to colors. Fortunately, otherwise the world would just be a monotonous dull affair. Maybe I should just use the colors I feel like that day and stop worrying about the color choice. Eventually, my templates will fill with hundreds of different photos, papers and colors and each fill will tell its own story that matters to the creator. And in the end, that is what is most important: The story YOU want to tell, not the color of my mood. So from now on no more worries, I’m going for ALL the colors. We make it a cheerful and colorful place to be.
So there goes my intention to make a nice and cohesive looking shop….. But I’m happy with the decision I made (At least for now, you never know what future will bring , lol)
And now to answer the title: You are you and that makes you beautifull and perfect !
I am extremely excited to welcome you to my new place on the web. This blog is a great way for me to write about what is going on behind the scenes. I plan to share general news, keep you informed about promotions, show you my new designs and above all I want to inspire you with many many many examples of layouts. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
