Last night, I had a dream about my late mother. She visited me in my dreams, and I was so happy to see her. I told her that I wanted her to give me more signs of life, that I would recognize them, and we agreed that she would visit me more often. This morning, I woke up and the Clouseau song, “Afscheid van een vriend” (Farewell to a friend), was playing in my head. That’s the song that always reminds me of my late dog Shitan, whom I mourned for a long time. Normally I feel sad when I hear that song, but not today, actually I felt very cheerful, and I started the morning singing.
I’m slowly getting back into scrapbooking and had created a new digital template yesterday. A sample still needed to be made, and I decided to do it now. I thought of a page with recent photos of one of my pets. I browsed through my pet folder on the computer. The 2024 folder was still empty (I know, I am a little bit behind), so I went to the 2023 folder. I scrolled through the photos and came across photos of my mother with Loeki, my little dog. Actually, these photos belong in the family folder, but for some unknown reason I had mistakenly placed them in this folder. The photos were taken in the nursing home, about a month before my mother died, and they are the last photos of her. The memories of what followed that period came back, it all seems so recent. I was not that sad, rather in a warm nostalgic mood, and I decided to use these photos for my sample page.
I scrolled through my supply of digital papers looking for something with purple (from my mother’s sweater) and brown/beige (from Loeki) to fill the the template. After everything was filled in, I wanted to save the page with a reference to the kit used for the digital papers. I looked up the name, and guess what? The kit is called “Comme si c’etait hier” – as if it were yesterday.
If those aren’t signs from above! It’s beautiful how everything comes together: – The dream about my mother with the promise to visit more often – The song that reminded me of my deceased dog, putting me in a nostalgic mood – Because of this, I want to work with photos of my pets – The photos of my mother that ended up in the wrong folder – The feeling that it all happened just recently when I look at her photos – Unconsciously choosing the kit “Comme si c’était hier” – as if it were yesterday, to use
